Parents & Terminal Illness
My Mom has a terminal illness.
What can I do?
The older we get the less uncommon it becomes for us not to receive unfavorable news about our health. It is also not uncommon to have family members who need extra support after being the recipient of unfavorable health news or being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
If you have been invited into the whirlwind of a terminal illness what you can do to provide consistent support is:
Learn all you can about the process of the illness/disease.
Be open minded and try not to present as judge-mental.
Ask for permission before sharing this intimate information with others (if you feel the need to share it).
Research the best way to be supportive to someone with that particular illnesses.
Become a member of social media support groups geared to support and provide information regarding the illness.
